Some Useful Hints While Roaming This Site. Select Your Topic.

General Hints

The purpose of this site is to assist in the search for your next home. Use the search button to find a property that matches your needs, or review a home's pictures to refresh your memory after an in-home visit.

The web pages you will find in this site are usually longer than what can be displayed on a single screen. To get the full benefit of the information provided on this site, scroll up or down your screen. You can scroll using the up or down arrow keys, or with the "Page Up" or "Page Down" keys.

This is a graphic intensive site, especially while previewing the pictures of the properties. It may take in excess of 30 seconds to download a picture. If you have a 19.2k or slower modem...please be patient.

You can save downloaded images to your hard disk. In some browsers this is done by placing the mouse pointer somewhere on the image and clicking the mouse's right button.

Search Hints

The PropertyShow search page allows you to do two types of searches. You can search by property code or by specific criteria.

How To Search For A Property By Code

To search for a specific property you must know its code (i.e., agentdemo, jb1234,pb9). This code can be obtained from a newspaper ad, a "for sale", or from a previous search at PropertyShow.

Armed with the code of the property, go to the PropertyShow search page by clicking on the search button. This is available on all PropertyShow pages on the top or bottom of page navigation menu.

After you are at the search page, you will see the words "Code Search" below the navigation menu. Click anywhere on the "Code Search" words.

To see the available properties, click on the arrow next to the "Property Name" box. This brings up a list with the name of the properties. Select the property you want by clicking on it. Note: You can move back and forth on the list by typing the first letter of the property you are looking for. That's all there is to it!

You will get a page with the results of your search if you entered a valid property code. Results are displayed eight properties at a time. If there are more than five properties found that match your search criteria, click on "View Next/Previous Set" to scroll through the results.

You can also go directly to a property from the web. Simply point your browser to www.propertyshow.com/property name (i.e. zz33).

How To Search By Specific Criteria: Custom Search

Go to the PropertyShow search page by clicking on the search button. This is available on all PropertyShow pages on the top and bottom navigation menus.

Click anywhere on the "Custom Search" words.

Fill in the option(s) of interest. Leave all others blank.

Once you have filled in the option(s) you want, click on the "Get Properties" button. That's all there is to it!

You will get a page(s) with the results of your search. Results are displayed eight at a time. If no properties are found, go back to the search page and change your search criteria. You can also try filling in fewer search criteria. This will increase the probability of a property match.

Viewing Photos

The following hints are NOT required settings to use this site.

The pictures are what makes this web site unique. To get the most out of the pictures, here are some hints that may help you optimize their quality as you view them in your browser:

Most of the pictures found in the PropertyShow are approximately 600x450 pixels. Your screen should be set at a resolution of no less than 640x480. 800x600 or 1024x768 are desirable, but not mandatory.

Set your color palette to a high color (16 bit or better). Without the high color palette you still can view the pictures, but they will have a granular look.

Some hardware will not support high resolutions with the high color palette. It is best to sacrifice resolution for the high color. Try to choose a resolution that will support a high color palette. You'll be glad you did when you view the photos.

Optimizing Windows for best viewing.

Refer to your user manuals, or follow the steps below at your own risk.

These optimization steps assume that your hardware supports the resolutions and color palettes discussed above. The best thing to do anytime you are changing system settings is to make sure you have a good backup copy of your system.

Put the mouse pointer somewhere on the desktop background and click the mouse's right button. Click on "Properties". The "Display Properties" window pops up.

With the left button click on the "Settings" tab. Look for the slider bar on the Desktop area. Put the mouse pointer on the slider bar, while pressing the left mouse button, move the slider bar to the right. The resolution selected is displayed just below the slider bar.

Next look for "Color palette" and select High Color (16 bit), or better, in the drop down box. Now click on the "Apply" button. Windows will let you know if you need to reboot your computer for the new settings to take affect.
